Saving Desktop Items
- Right click on your desktop, select New > Folder
- Call the new folder Old Desktop
- Right click on the desktop item you want to save, click Copy
- Open the “old desktop” folder, right mouse click and select Paste
- Do this for every item you want to save (do NOT save recycle bin, there shouldn’t be anything in there that you need).
- Once done copying everything, review the contents of the “old desktop” folder to make sure you have backed up everything you need. If you missed anything repeat the above steps.
- When done, close the folder and right mouse click on it.
- Select “Send To” then Documents. This folder is now located in your “documents” folder (which is the same as your “U Drive”). Confirm it is there!!
To Restore
When you log into your PC for the first time after it has been reimaged, you will go to the “old desktop” folder in your “documents”, click on the top item, hold down your SHIFT key and click on the last item. This will highlight everything in that folder. Right mouse click and select SEND TO then DESKTOP.
