VPN Instructions

Step One: Click on your network Connection Icon in your system tray (just to the left of your date and time). When on wireless, click on your wireless icon

Step 2: Click on “Network Settings” or “Network and Internet Settings”

Step 3: In the left-hand column click on “VPN”

Step 4: Click on “Add a VPN Connection” or “VPN”

Step 5: Here we will create a new VPN connection.

Things you will need to fill out:

VPN Provider is the windows (built in) one.

Connection name can be whatever you want. We recommend calling it Bartlett or Bartlett VPN.

Server name is secure.bartlettbearing.com

VPN type is L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared Key. Click on the drop down and choose this one.

The pre-shared key is “merakivpn”, without the quotes.

Keep the rest default.

Once done, click on Save.

Step 6: You’ll see a new VPN connection in this list now. We’re not done yet. Click on your start menu, and do a search for “network and sharing center”. Click on that to open it. If you don’t find it, you should see it at the bottom of the window you are currently in:

Step 7: On the left-hand side of this window, you will see “Change Adapter settings” Click on that

Step 8: This new window will show you all connections your computer has. Look for the one with the same name as the VPN connection you just created. Right click on it, and choose properties.

Step 9: Click on the security tab. For “Data Encryption”, click on the drop down and choose “Require Encryption (Disconnect if server declines)”. In the Authentication area below it, click on the radio button for “Allow these protocols”. Then make sure to check the first 3 checkboxes. When done, click on “OK”. It should look like this:

Step 9: Follow steps 1-3 to get back to the VPN connection area. Now click on your VPN connection, and then click on connect. It will prompt for your credentials:

Your username is your Windows login, this is usually just your first name.

Your password has been given to you by IT

Enter your credentials and say “OK”. After this, you are now connected to the Bartlett Bearing VPN.
